N.A.V.I.

A 3D guide, a personality assessment and a cross-chain NFT that sings its owner’s song.

N.A.V.I. — the Nonon Autonomous Verification Interface — is a story-led web experience from the NONON world. A pixel-art 3D guide assesses each visitor’s spiritual alignment, then rewards them with the Crysalis: a fully on-chain NFT, generated from their result, built to travel between blockchains over LayerZero.

The brief

N.A.V.I. was built for the existing NONON community as an experiment in what an on-chain reward could feel like when it is earned through an experience rather than bought: a reflection of who you are, made permanent.

It was released quietly, to holders rather than the wider market — and on Superposition, a young chain that has since shut down — but it remains the most technically and aesthetically ambitious piece in the NONON world.

The assessment

“Greetings wanderer. I am the Nonon Autonomous Verification Interface. You may call me NAVI.” Rendered in 3D with a custom pixel-art post-processing pipeline and speaking in a synthesised voice, N.A.V.I. guides each visitor through the N.A.V.I. Spiritual Alignment Assessment.

Fifteen questions — statements, scenarios and favourites, drawn from a larger pool — place the visitor on two axes, Heaven–Hell and Sweet–Salt. Before results are revealed, they affix their seal to the Nonon Pledge of Truth and Honesty, minting an on-chain pledge certificate. N.A.V.I. then bestows one of eighteen titles, such as Herald of Perpetual Dawn.

The Crysalis

“A mysterious crysalis taking many forms. It is warm to the touch. It trembles lightly. It is uniquely attuned to your personality.” Each assessee can mint a Crysalis that records their alignment for good.

Its artwork is assembled entirely on-chain: SVG parts stored with SSTORE2 are combined at read time, with colours, egg form, an alignment plot and a resonance trait — from INTERVAL and CANON to REQUIEM and CHORALE — all derived from the holder’s result. The release was limited to 500, and NONON Friend Card holders who had reached level four could claim one for free.

Cross-chain by design

The Crysalis is a LayerZero ONFT721. It was minted on Superposition and could be bridged to and from Ethereum mainnet. Rather than relying on a token ID alone, each bridge message carries the token’s alignment, so the destination contract rebuilds it exactly: as the app puts it, it will merely exist on a different network — “its heart will still sing your song.”

Mints are authorised by server-signed payloads verified on-chain, and the Friend Card on Ethereum is read directly to determine free-claim eligibility.

Engineering

The app is built with SvelteKit and Threlte (Three.js), with a custom pixel-art post-processing effect, GLSL shaders, pixel typography and an “animalese”-style voice for N.A.V.I.’s dialogue. Wallet connection uses web3-onboard and ethers, with assessment progress stored per wallet.

Contracts are written in Solidity with LayerZero’s ONFT721 and Solady, built and tested with Foundry, and the app is deployed to Fly.io via GitHub Actions.
